| DYCONEX is glad to announce the successful introduction of a nickel gold plating line at its facility in Bassersdorf. PCBs with electroless nickel immersion gold (ENIG) finish can be processed in-house from now on. The main driver for establishing the process was to ensure and even improve the quality and to gain full control of this demanding plating step. With regard to the shift of the industry to lead-free soldering, ENIG finish will become more dominant. DYCONEX considers the nickel-gold process a crucial part of its concept to manufacture only highest quality products. Responsible for the design and installation of the plant was Galvabau, a Swiss company manufacturing plating systems. A close collaboration between DYCONEX and Galvabau during the concept stage yielded in a sophisticated design optimized for high density flexible substrates as well as rigid and rigid-flex PCBs. Process stability and reliability was established in the test stage that preceded the production release and lasted 3 months. Large efforts were taken regarding implementation of an extensive control scheme that was necessary to meet the high quality standards DYCONEX is known for. |
