After 1.5 years of development DYCONEX has released a new PCB engineering software for company wide use. The innovative programm, internally called Prisma, defines stack-ups, operation plans and process parameters of PCBs. It is the source for quotes as well as the manufacturing travellers.
The plan to start an in-house software development was born in 2005, when it became obvious that the current engineering Software was no longer able to cope with the processes introduced in DYCONEX within the past few years. Having reviewed the available Software packages on the market it became quickly clear that no appropriate solution existed, mainly due of the high amount of non-standard products DYCONEX is manufacturing.
The new program was designed with the goal to streamline the engineering process by providing a library of standard process flows. These are called process modules and may be used by the engineers as building blocks for products of a wide range of complexity levels. While this leads to a unification of similar products it still allows the design of exotic build-ups. Even the introduction of completely new processes (such as new manufacturing equipment) is accomplished within a short time with no need to recompile the software.
Bidirectional interfaces to the ERP system enable the software to have direct access to the material library and other master data and export the operation plans to the production planning module. Moreover the standard times used for pricing and scheduling are generated by Prisma. The software is based on SQL Server and .NET technology and stores all information in a structured way that is easily searched and filtered. After having achieved a stable production release, plans to further extend the functionality are currently being discussed.
